The Powell Country Christmas continues with Santa’s arrival by helicopter on Friday, November 24, at 9:45am at the municipal parking lot on Clark St. Then it’s on to Santa’s Workshop from 10am-Noon at the Commons on Bent St.
The Powell Country Christmas offers a full weekend of events December 2nd and 3rd. On Saturday, December 2, there is a Country Christmas gift show during the day with a lighted parade and a twilight tour of homes in the evening. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will host a public meeting on grizzly bear management at 6:30pm on Thursday, November 30, at the Cody Holiday Inn. Department biologists will provide information on grizzly bear recovery, conservation and the department’s 2016 management plan. There is cash payout bingo on Friday, December 15, at the Eagles Lodge in Powell, located at 131 N Clark Street. The Eagle Rider’s Bingo games start at 7pm, food and adult beverages are available for purchase, and the minimum buy-in is $12.
The Wyoming Department of Family Services (WDFS) is accepting applications for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP). The federally funded program helps those on fixed incomes or people with low incomes pay for heating costs during the winter months. The Powell Valley Recycling Center located at 946 Road 10 in Powell is open for assisted recycling drop off on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10am to 5pm. They accept: cardboard, aluminum, newspaper, steel cans, office paper, plastic grocery bags, and numbers 1 and 2 plastics. The center does not accept glass or styrofoam. Self help drop off bins are available during non business hours and days.
